CloseUp Promotions To Host a Stage at Great Escape Festival

Great Escape Festival is soon upon us, and with that also comes the Alternative Escape, where promoters find any space they can find in Brighton and host some of the best bands around. CloseUp Promotions have just announced they will be taking over Shorrt's Bar on the Thursday of the festival, joining forces with LAB Records and Modern Sky to bring us their version of the Great Escape party.

We had a sit down with CloseUp Promotions' Sam Tucker to chat about it all.

So, are you excited for Great Escape?
YESSS! It's literally my favourite musical weekend of the year, 14 hours a day of some of the best live music around, and it couldn't be in more of an apt place than Brighton either (especially if it's sunny). So yes, you could say i'm just a lil' bit excited for it.

What made you decide to host a stage this year and why with LAB records & Modern Sky?
It was just a loose conversation that ended up becoming a wonderful reality, which is great as it's always been a dream of mine/CloseUp's to run something across the TGE weekend. It mostly came around because of the artist crossover we have, between the 2 labels & CloseUp we have all seemingly worked together with many artists over the last 12/24 months. Both labels are 2 of the leading tastemakers of emerging talent really in the UK really, so for CloseUp to continue to be aligned with them is amazing!

What do you look for when picking bands to play a stage like this? Can you give us any clues on who you have got playing?
Lips are absolutely sealed, but if you want the chance to win the opening slot on our stage at TGE 18, our stage sponsors SYNCR music have a competition running:

The Great Escape has got an amazing line up so far, any personal favorites for you on the line up?
Isn't it just so good? Have to give a shout out to our dear friends Marsicans & Wild Front (who are both having amazing years FYI) we will be front & centre for those 2. Most certainly want to see Stereo Honey, and of course Hows Harry, Glass Peaks, Shanghai Blues, Submariner on our booking roster who'll be performing across the weekend!!
